Bone broth has earned a place in the routines of runners, lifters and anyone who wants simple, real-food nutrition. It isn’t a supplement or a cure. It’s a slow-simmered food, and what makes it worth drinking is what comes out of the bones.
What’s in a jar
We simmer bones for 20–24 hours. That long, gentle cook draws out:
- Collagen and gelatin. Collagen is the most common protein in the body. When bones and connective tissue simmer, collagen breaks down into gelatin, which is why a good broth sets when it’s cold.
- Protein. Our Classic and Plain beef broths contain 6g of protein per 250ml, and chicken and turkey contain 3g, based on our December 2025 lab results. Premium Collagen broths are made with a higher bone-to-water ratio for more protein per cup.
- Amino acids. Collagen is especially rich in glycine, proline and hydroxyproline.
- Naturally occurring minerals from the bones, plus the vegetables and herbs in our Classic recipes.
What our lab testing shows
Our Plain (No Salt Added) beef and chicken broths were tested by Mérieux NutriSciences, an independent lab, in December 2025. Per 250ml:
| Plain Beef | Plain Chicken | |
|---|---|---|
| Collagen | 6.0g | 2.2g |
| Glycine | 1.45g | 0.58g |
| Proline | 0.85g | 0.35g |
| Hydroxyproline | 0.80g | 0.30g |
| Lead, mercury, cadmium, arsenic | Below detection limits | Below detection limits |
The Classic recipes use the same base broth. View the full lab report (PDF).
Why sourcing matters
A broth can only be as good as its bones. We use grass-fed and finished beef bones and pasture-raised chicken and turkey bones, all from Ontario farms, and organic vegetables, herbs and mushrooms. You can meet our farmers or read what grass-fed, pasture-raised and organic really mean.
How active people use it
- After training: a warm mug as part of a protein-rich meal or snack.
- Daily sipping: an easy way to add protein and collagen to your day.
- Cooking: use it in place of water or stock for grains, soups and sauces.
- Fasting windows: many people sip plain broth when they want something warm and simple.
If you want the most protein per cup, start with Premium Collagen Beef. If you’d rather cook with it, the Classic and Plain broths come in larger 876ml jars.
The bottom line
Bone broth won’t replace training, sleep or a balanced diet. It’s a nourishing whole food that delivers collagen, gelatin and protein, made the slow way from well-sourced bones.
